The real Jason Miao

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

Before we begin, let me make one thing clear:

THE ABOVE ILLUSTRATION IS WHAT THE FAMOUS BLOGGER JASON MIAO ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE.

I am simply being paid to draw him inaccurately in the CCY project. Understood? Just to make sure, here’s an illustration from the great loli specialist illustrator and Toho fan, Kito:

I hope this is enough explanation for everyone. The picture of Jason I am about to show you is in no way accurate and is only how he is depicted in lolikit’s game.

And then there were none

So Samukun and I have suspended the Sunrider: Love in Space project until I’m done with grad school. He has started an interim visual novel project that should only take a few months to make and less than an hour to play through. It’s a gothic murder mystery with an atmosphere similar to that of the When They Cry series, set in WWII France and starring a loli with a poofy hat.

“Crimson Fairytale”? More like “Scarlet Fairytale”, am I right?

Disclaimer: This post greatly exaggerates the Toho influence on Sam’s game. The character does not actually resemble Flandre this much.

Alas, it’s September 1 and my vacation is over. I have to put this Flan Cecile picture on hold for a while, while I return to CCY. Next up is the sprite of Jason Miao.

Taking it easy

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

Still on break. Will resume work on CCY on September 1.

“Secret Genius Loli Project” is proceeding on schedule.

First 75 hours

Monday, August 10th, 2009

As of this time, I have logged 75 hours on the CCY-senpai wa 17sai project:

16 hours – First background
29 hours – Male character designs (excluding CCY)
30 hours – Faces of CCY (10 expressions in all)

I will be taking a break now until the end of August, for the following reasons:

1) I will be going on vacation, to see my family in Chicago.
2) I will be working on a very high-budget secret project (upwards of 30 hours, easily) featuring a famous loli who is also a genius.

The secret project will remain a secret until September, but I will give you two clues as to what it is about:

Clue #1:

Clue #2:

See you in September.

Faces of CCY: True Tears

Monday, August 10th, 2009

This one was delayed somewhat because 1) I had to work a full day yesterday (Sunday) and 2) the expression changed yet again.

But it’s finished now.

That’s the last of the expressions for the CCY character.

Faces of CCY: Skepticism

Identical to the “Neutrality” expression from the waist down.

Identical to the “Laughter” post in format.

I’m lazy like that.

Faces of CCY: Melancholy

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

lolikit specifically asked for distinct “sad” and “crying” CCYs, which translated into the “melancholy” and “true tears” expressions. At this time, there don’t seem to be any places in the script where such expressions would be needed. But lolikit wouldn’t have asked for them if he didn’t need them… I hope.

My greatest grievance with the characters is the fact that CCY only looks like a pure pure boy. I know there are actually people in real life who just want “bang bang bang”, but that’s not the kind of protagonist I want. The fact that the player is not actually assuming the role of CCY makes it slightly more tolerable.

I know the difference between CCY’s appearance and personality is intentional, but I don’t have to like it.

Faces of CCY: Surprise

Friday, August 7th, 2009

An expression that is greatly enhanced by the body language. You’ve heard the term “taken aback”, right? Also, has a “reverse blush”, turning white instead of red. One of the more useful expressions, given the script.

Faces of CCY: Laughter

Identical to the “Happiness” expression from the waist down.

I’m lazy like that.
