Sixten PC #2, aka KOZUE, had been suffering for months. Failing to install drivers, crashing when trying to install updates, not remembering the acceptance of license agreements, and so on. Yesterday morning it finally died. It wouldn’t even boot up Windows, and none of the startup or system recovery options worked. After the manufacturer screen, nothing was left but a blinking white cursor in the upper left corner of a black screen.
The slow deterioration of KOZUE gave me plenty of warning to regularly back up all my stuff, and no blog images, illustrations, comics, saved games, homework, documents, or ripped CDs were lost. Nevertheless, I will be without a home PC until the replacement arrives – Sixten PC #3, aka COBRA.
KOZUE served as my home PC from December 2008 to January 2012, and is the machine on which the birth of my Toho fandom took place. My joining of Pixiv, starting and finishing Fairy Ring, the start of the Magic-based but heavily Toho-flavored Lotus Cobra is Evil, and getting Normal 1CC’s on Imperishable Night, Mountain of Faith, and Subterranean Animism all happened during the KOZUE years. KOZUE was the gateway to Gensokyo.
KOZUE ascended to computer afterlife and joined Sixten PC #1, aka PELLAEON, which served from June 2005 to December 2008. PELLAEON witnessed, among other things, the contract that bound me to J.C.Staff, my decision to draw every day until I became a professional artist, Heart’s Content, my failed collaboration with Jason Miao, and Miao Diary, the doujin that rose from its ashes and was approved by none other than ESTABLISH NECHOES.
Who knows what milestones will be reached with COBRA?
Only time will tell.
