Fairy Ring (Take 3) – Pages 29-32

I am aware that “Friends don’t fight each other” is the biggest lie in Gensokyo and occurs from time to time in the real world, but gods have to be more idealistic than mortals.

An earlier version of the script had Cirno using a fake frog to trick Suwako into fighting her, because Reimu had told Cirno that all her friendships had started from a fight. But Cirno, while occasionally mean, is too pure to intentionally deceive someone, and it would have the change of heart occur offscreen.

This way, Suwako gets to pull off another “No way, that’s impossible” miracle with Cirno’s help.

When Suwako has her hat on, her blunt bangs look like the bristles on the underside of a Scrubbing Bubble.

Conclusion is next week!

Awww, I was hoping for danmaku.

And some danmaku clothing damaged Cirno.

  2. falkonus says:

the frog has been freed. What have you done, you foolish girl?? HE WILL KILL US ALL!

  3. Samukun says:

    Falkonus: BAD END

  4. Mushyrulez says:

Oh my god, the frog is still so moe. Look at his moe 🙁 face and his shocked expression when he was unfrozen… you better give us some 4koma extras starring frog-tan (or at least have Suwako put on a scrubbing bubble).

This is a very nice conclusion to the entire thing – I wondered how you would pull off such a story in such a short amount of time, but this plot and pacing is just spectacular. How much time did you spend thinking about this (and how many drafts, lolol)?

  5. Sixten says:

@Mushyrulez: If by spectacular you mean “rushed as a quartet of recurred Vengevines”… Seriously though, I’m glad you like it. The comments on Pixiv have also been encouraging. However, I think some of the scenes I ended up cutting from the script in the interest of finishing by the September 11 deadline would have made the story better. I occasionally get the feeling of “Too soon!” and “Relies too much on coincidence.”

I will have a postmortem post about working on the project that will answer the “how much time” question, and have a credits page that will reveal more. But that’s for when I’m actually done.
