Unlike with Fairy Ring and Cirno x Suwako, I didn’t waste time looking for existing Lunasa x Shizuha doujinshi because of the randomness of the pairing. But you know, I wouldn’t be surprised if such books were out there. There is Toho of everything, after all.
And as some people have mentioned, Lunasa and Shizuha look like each other. They look more like sisters of each other than they look like sisters of their actual sisters…

I have an odd problem with drawing sound effects (“Pow!” “Whirr…” “Ring ring” “Stomp” “KABOOM!” and so on). I can never get them to look right, and thus you almost never see them in my comics. But I think I did a mostly decent job with the musical notes.
Next update: September 10.
If I can do two pages a week from here on out, I should have all 50 pages of the script rendered out before the end of the year.
I’m tempted to take what we can see of the musical score and turn it into an actual piece.
It is an actual piece. The notes are straight from the sheet music tab.
Heh. Had no idea.
Well, I’ll be!
I think the issue with the sound effect in your example page was that you just used a speech balloon, so it looked like the phone was saying “Ring.” The trick I use is 1. don’t use a speech balloon, 2. use a different font from the dialog, or at least a different size, and 3. put it at an angle instead of horizontal. All of which pretty much applied to the musical notes on page 13 here.
If you did a non-intrusive spiked-bordered “ring”, it might have worked.
The music is real nice, but the 4/4, repeats, and barlines really throw you off, y’know? They seem too artificial (because they are) when expressing a flow of music; starting in the middle of the melody might be a better idea. Very well done, though~
really good story so far. kinda depressing too.
Page 13! composition is music in itself. I love the tonal balance, the structure of the piece.
The shadows of the music are wonderful. I once did a wood carving of a violin with a drawing of Handel in it. I called it the “Shadow of the song”
People don’t always feel the shadows of music or actions.
Truly a great piece of art you have created here.
